Morning Classes-M,W,F

No need to worry about the summer slide with your kiddos this year! Children in our morning classes will focus on Math, Science, Literacy and Social Studies through engaging lessons and activities to reinforce the class material.  Elementary children will also develop some new skills through our American Sign Language class and Recorder Music class!

Bible

Children will learn about people in the Bible, character lessons, God's promises and more through daily bible time.  Children will study the life of Jesus Christ by reading the Bible, group discussions and engaging lesson activities. Optional: Bring bible to class.

Reading Club

Yay!  A summer book club to keep those reading muscles active!  Children will read one book weekly during class and participate in group discussions and book specific activities.  Selected books are provided.  

Creative Writing Workshop

To write or not to write???  We are writing!!  Children will respond to creative writing prompts in their Creative Writing Journals.  New prompts are provided daily.  Children will share their works and receive feedback on grammar and punctuation.   Journals are provided. 

Nature All Around Me

What fun it is to learn about science through hands-on activities!  Topics such as seasons, plant life cycle, butterfly life cycle, land formations, weather, and more will be covered in this class.

American Sign Language (ASL)

The tiniest of hands are capable of producing one of the most beautiful forms of communication.  Preschoolers will learn the basics of ASL with the alphabet, numbers 1-10, everyday signs and nursery rhymes.

Afternoon Classes- MWF

Our afternoon classes are for the Little Explorer in each of us!  The city of Bexley, with easy access to parks, ice cream shops, library, movie theater and more, is ripe for discovery.  Children in the afternoon class will walk to some of the city treasures through nature journeys and weekly visits to local destinations. 

Nature Journey

Our Little Explorers will engage in daily nature walks and discover all the wonderful parts of nature at their fingertips.  Children will keep Nature Journals to reinforce their discoveries.

Library Day

We will join in all the library fun as we participate in the Summer Reading Program.  We will register for the program, select books from the library to read while we are there and bring back for free play time, and track our progress.  Let's not forget the summer activities too!

Park/Playground

What is summer without some park and playground time?  We will journey to local parks and playgrounds to develop those large motor skills.   Free play and organized games are a must!

Splish & Splash

Summer + Water, what could be more fun!!  We will change into our swimsuits and enjoy water games.  On special water days, we will splish and splash on the inflatable bounce house waterslide and more!  Bring: swimsuit, towel and sun block.

Math Challenge

Love math anyone?  The children in this class will love the math games and prizes!  Children will work in groups to solve math challenges focused on single, double and triple digit addition and subtraction, basic fractions, multiplication and division facts to 12, telling time and calculating elasped time for present, future and past events, money identification, counting money, paying for items and calculating change!

Our World

This social studies class is focused on learning about land formations, water systems, life forms, cities, states, and continents that make up this wonderful world in which we live.

Recorder Music Class

Children will rock the house in this music class geared toward teaching Music fundamentals and Recorder basics.  Children will listen to children's songs performed on the recorder and then play the songs themselves.  Bring a recorder or purchase one in class.

Movie Day-$

We will visit the Drexel movie theater for selected children's movies.  We will walk to the theater and enjoy concession snacks.  Bring $6 for the movie ticket and extra money for snacks.   Movies will be shown on site on other movie days with popcorn, fruit, and drinks provided.

Ice Cream Day-$

Bexley has two local ice cream shops within walking distance for our Little Explorers to enjoy!  Children will visit these destinations to try some delicious sweet treats.  Bring $5 to buy your favorite flavor.

Farmer's Market

Bexley has a wonderful growing farmer's market each Thursday afternoon.  We will take a nature journey to the farmer's market where we will engage in a weekly scavenger hunt.  Children will learn about farming, healthy eating and supporting local farmers. OPTIONAL: Bring $ to purchase and support our local farmers and other businesses.

Special Activities

We will take trips to visit the Piccadilly Cafe $5 afternoon play on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 2 pm-5 pm as scheduling allows.  Advanced notice will be given for these excursions.
