Homeschool Roundup

 Study the main branches of the animal kingdom including mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects and fish. They will study animal habitats, behaviors, diets, and adaptations. Students will complete projects and lapbooks in class. Students will have the opportunity to present a poster board presentation during one of the last two classes of the session.

Learn the mechanics of the English language during in class instruction. A portion of each class will be dedicated to a read-aloud and book log illustration and narration. Students will receive a reading list to select their literature from for at home reading. Students will have the opportunity to practice their writing skills through a writing assignment completed each week based on the student’s age and selected literature. The reading list will be provided upon completed registration.

 Learn about various artists around the world. We will utilize their artistic style to create our own works of art. Students will receive a material list upon completed registration. Artists studied will include: Van Gogh, Hokusai, Avercamp, Picasso, Klee, Rousseau, and Calder.

Learn the basics of American Sign Language in this class. Live instruction, videos, and weekly assignments will be utilized. We will learn how to fingerspell and learn specific signs for the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, family members, feelings, colors, and more. We will also engage in beginner ASL conversations with classmates. Students will learn the Gloss form of ASL conversation.
